Hey, Chuck Devore! Need a Radio Wingman?

Back in January, I had Chuck Devore, one-time candidate for US Senate, on the show. We talked about how the Founders might have used social media, his misadventures with Twitter, and “what if” history. He was a delight to interview and a great guest.

So, this story doesn’t surprise me at all.

Assemblyman Chuck DeVore is looking to trade his political soapbox for a radio microphone.

The Irvine Republican, scheduled to be termed out this year, will host a three-hour Los Angeles radio show Sunday night and said he hopes to break into conservative talk radio once he leaves the Capitol.

“This is something that I’ve looked at as a way to earn a living while keeping my name ID high in a certain market,” said DeVore, who recently lost to Carly Fiorina in the GOP primary for U.S. Senator.

“I enjoy it,” he said. “Talk radio is very fast moving, it’s a very fun medium … and the fact that I enjoy blogging and there’s a good link between radio and blogging — it’s an interesting opportunity.”

If he embraces both blogging and radio and uses the two to complement each other, he will do very well, I think. He has a great radio voice and a good conversational manner. Though this part of the article does concern me.

As a one-time gig, DeVore will host a three-hour segment this weekend on Los Angeles’ KFI radio (640 AM) that focuses on comic books, science fiction and video games.
[Emphasis mine]

Whoa, whoa! That niche is already nicely-filled by a talented, up-and-coming podcaster, thankyouverymuch. Maybe Chuck can put in a call for a wingman with some experience in a politics and pop culture blend-type show. I know a guy who would be interested in discussing the matter with him.
