Episode 51 – Who Needs Roger Ebert When You Have Us?

How great was Episode 51? Once you get past the introductory stuff, run a stopwatch on how much I spoke in the first half of the show. I’ll say you won’t even get to two minutes. That’s what happens when you bring on three guys – Stephen Green, Ed Driscoll, and Rob Long — who know a lot about a lot of subject. I got them talking about movies and the movie industry and, like I said in the intro, once I lobbed a topic at them, I just got out of the way. The result is great radio.

We started with the coming release of The Expendables and moved into slow movie openings vs big releases and why theater owners might not like the evolution of home media. If you’re a movie buff, this podcast is going to be pure delicious candy for you.

Rob had to leave after the first half, but Steve, Ed, and I carried on with a few suggestions about “Guilty Pleasure” movies. I’ll bet no other podcast has mentioned Canon Films or Golan Globus with such fond nostalgia. Don’t miss the split decision on Tron or the unexpected love for a few obscure (and not so obscure) car chase films. Be sure to bring up your Netflix cue when you listen to this half of the show. It’s a mortal lock that we’ll bring up a movie or two you’ll want to see.
